Managing Diversity

Most people prefer to associate with people like themselves. The reality, however, is that there is a growing diversity amongst work groups in North America, and failure to capitalize upon it is hindering many organizations from reaching their full potential.

This seminar helps people to understand the diversity around them: of backgrounds, styles, perspectives, values and beliefs. It is a sensitive process, but it enables managers to mobilize differences as assets in their organization.

Another dimension is that a diverse workforce, or project group, becomes more effective than the sum of its parts through this process.

Seminar Topics

  • Understanding and valuing diversity
  • Stereotypes, prejudices and biases
  • Exploring, and celebrating differences
  • Understanding and articulating similarities
  • Working together- integrating it all together
  • Cross-cultural conflict resolution
  • Cross-cultural communication
  • Decision making
  • Employment equity
  • Promoting respect in the workplace

Measurable Results

  • Innovative contributions that increase the organization’s competitive edge
  • Increased productivity
  • Positive customer response to proactive diversity policies
  • Employee satisfaction and retention
  • Improved departmental cooperation
  • Accelerated inclusion of new members of the workforce
